Here comes the bride...

Hollie Eley, from London, lost 1st 8lbs* to help boost her confidence. She got married in 2017 and was thrilled to say 'I do' in her slim-fitting dream wedding dress.

 

My diet was in need of a complete makeover, as I lived on vending machine food – crisps, biscuits, chocolate, you name it! I blamed the stress of sitting exams, although, deep down, I knew I was making the wrong choices.

 

I joined Slimming World hoping I might drop a couple of dress sizes and look better in my Facebook photos. Admittedly, I was embarrassed about joining a slimming club. I thought my friends would make fun of me, so I kept quiet and asked my mum to come along for moral support.

 

The start of something special

 

We were both welcomed by the warm and friendly smile of my Consultant, Jo, who sat us down with other new members as she explained Food Optimising. Mum and I listened intently to all the fantastic weight losses and inspirational stories. We went home with a head full of ideas and decided to give it everything.

 

I swapped my chocolatey breakfast cereals for a grilled breakfast and during the day I enjoyed satisfying salads, soups and home-made sandwiches. After a week I had the biggest smile on my face when Jo told me that I’d lost 4½lbs!

 

Week by week IMAGE Therapy changed my life, and knowing that the other group members (who were fast becoming friends) cared about my weight loss, and I cared about theirs, made me even more motivated to make the right food choices. As I lost weight I became more outgoing at group. I really loved hearing everyone elses experiences, learning about recipes and discovering low-Syn treats, like two-finger KitKats.

 

In 2016, my partner, Luke, proposed. We got married in December 2017 and it was the best day of my life. I felt like a princess in my fitted, backless wedding dress. The photos looked lovely, too!


The honeymoon period

 

Since our wedding, my weight has fluctuated a little. It doesn’t worry me, though – I know exactly how to get back on track again. If I ever have an off-plan meal or a bad day, I pick it back up and get back to Food Optimising 100%.

 

Luke and I still enjoy Slimming World recipes as much as ever – our personal favourite is burger and chips – we’d rather have it than a takeaway!

 

I stay motivated by reminding myself of the way I felt before I lost weight, and how amazing I feel now. You can’t beat it!
