Margaret Miles-Bramwell, our beloved founder, was remembered at a moving service at Derby Cathedral today.

Hundreds of mourners gathered, including Margaret’s family, friends and many Slimming World Consultants and staff, to pay their respects to the woman who touched the hearts and changed the lives of millions.

During the service (led by The Very Reverend Dr Peter Robinson, Dean of Derby), tributes were given by her son Dominic Miles, former Slimming World Chief Executive Officer Caryl Richards, and Margaret’s friend and trusted colleague Cenk Efe on behalf of the Mallorca community.

The cathedral service was followed by a private farewell for family and friends.
Before the ceremony, the funeral cortège made a farewell journey to Slimming World Head Office in Alfreton, Derbyshire, where hundreds of staff gathered to pay tribute. Employees, including some who had worked with Margaret for decades, lined the road outside what is fondly known as the Sparkly Castle and showered the procession with beautiful spring daffodils and white roses.

Margaret’s enduring legacy will be the wisdom and vision that shine through in everything she said and wrote, including this wonderful quote, taken from her autobiography:
‘I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint on our memories.’
